I am here to talk about turmeric.
Turmeric is a magical spice that is very very good for your health. Turmeric has been used for health for thousands of years and also is one of the main ingredients in Ayurveda. Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic medical systems; it was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India and is still widely used today in many parts of the world.
The main ingredient in golden milk is turmeric. Turmeric is a very strong spice, it has a beautiful yellow color. The healing benefits of the spice are more than we can count and mention here. Turmeric is made of curcumin. Today many pharmaceutical companies use curcumin or its health benefşits. In Ayurveda curcumin is used for reducing joint pain, arthritis, inflammation. Curcumin was also used to treat depression back in time.
If you feel heartburn, stomach pain, diarrhea, intestinal gas, stomach bloating, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) , high cholesterol, skin inflammation, you can drink a golden milk to relieve your pain. Also you can have a turmeric latte if you have headaches, bronchitis, colds, lung infections, fibromyalgia, fever, menstrual problems, or itchy skin as well.
I will give you a recipe for turmeric latte (also known as golden milk or a turmeric tea). It is a traditional Ayurvedic drink. It is very good for your stomach. It is also very delicious, nourishing and smooth.
Easy Vegan Drink Recipes
I will give a recipe that is quite simple to make. But before the recipe I’ll share with you some tips for the perfect latte.
I recommend gourd turmeric powder for the latte because it will give you more taste, just like coffee. You need to add a pinch of black pepper every time you use turmeric because black pepper is a must for the absorption of the nutrients in turmeric also, I recommend you to use a little coconut oil to absorb all the nutrients. I also recommend you drink non dairy milk for your health.
If you’ll drink Golden Milk to heal, just like me, keep away from the store-bought milk as well. If you have time I recommend you to make your own nut milk. It is very easy to make and you’ll have a r,üch taste in your latte. Looking for recipes? Check out my super easy Almond Milk Recipe!
Whole, raw, fresh cow’s milk was used traditionally, but with current practices of pasteurizing, homogenizing, and adding hormones & antibiotics to dairy milk these days I think it’s best to avoid most of it. If you have access to whole, raw, fresh dairy milk that you trust you can use that, too.
I also add cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon for a wonderful flavor, and to get more antioxidants for healing benefits. You can add vanilla extract and honey too. But I like the spicy taste so I’ll skip honey and vanilla for the recipe.
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any other non-dairy milk)
1 teaspoon coconut oil
½ teaspoon of ground turmeric
big pinch of freshly ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon of ground ginger
A pinch of ground cardamom
A pinch of ground cinnamon
